چکیده
Semi-implicit multistep methods are an efficient tool for solving large-scale ODE systems. This recently emerged technique is based on modified Adams–Bashforth–Moulton (ABM) methods. In this paper, we introduce new semi-explicit and semi-implicit predictor–corrector the backward differentiation formula Adams–Bashforth We provide a thorough study of numerical stability performance compare their with conventional linear methods: Adams–Bashforth, Adams–Moulton, BDF. On the impact of explicit or semi-implicit integration methods over the stability of real-time numerical simulations
Physics-based animation of soft or rigid bodies for real-time applications often suffers from numerical instabilities. We analyse one of the most common sources of unwanted behaviour: the numerical integration strategy. To assess the impact of popular integration methods, we consider a scenario where soft and hard constraints are added to a custom designed deformable linear object. Since the go...

In this paper we propose semi-explicit schemes based on Taylor methods for the solution of the isospectral equation L 0 = B; L] for d d real matrices L, while reproducing the isospectrality of the exact equation. Although the theoretical solution may be symmetric, the proposed schemes usually do not retain symmetry of the underlying ow. We present techniques that allow us to decrease the breakd...

We formulate general guidelines to extend an explicit code with a great variety of implicit and semi-implicit time integration schemes. The discussion is based on their speciic implementation in the Versatile Advection Code, which is a general purpose software package for solving systems of non-linear hyperbolic (and/or parabolic) partial diierential equations, using standard high-resolution sh...
متن کاملStability of implicit - explicit linear multistep methods
In many applications, large systems of ordinary di erential equations (ODEs) have to be solved numerically that have both sti and nonsti parts. A popular approach in such cases is to integrate the sti parts implicitly and the nonsti parts explicitly. In this paper we study a class of implicit-explicit (IMEX) linear multistep methods intended for such applications. The paper focuses on the linea...

In this paper we propose semi-explicit schemes based on Taylor methods for the solution of the isospectral equation L′ = [B,L] for d × d real matrices L, while reproducing the isospectrality of the exact equation. Although the theoretical solution may be symmetric, the proposed schemes usually do not retain symmetry of the underlying flow. We present techniques that allow us to decrease the bre...
